A spectacle flange, also known as a figure-8 blank, is used in piping systems to allow for easy access to the pipeline for maintenance or cleaning purposes. It consists of two metal discs connected by a small section of metal, resembling the shape of a figure-8. The flange is installed between two flanges and can be easily removed by unscrewing the bolts, allowing for quick access to the pipeline.
